Crayon Hearts

Art at Lakeshore Hill Academy embraces many mediums. Today the girls and I up-cycled our old broken crayons to make heart crayons. It was a fun early morning art lesson.

Fill your mold – people usually use soft plastic molds. I used what I had. Ignore the brown and blue pre-melted hearts. I’m remelting them because I didn’t like how they turned out.
soak papered crayons in warm water to remove paper
Melt in oven at 250*F for as long as necessary – approximately 20min

Pop the crayons out after they have completely cooled

Note: There’s often a thin, hardened layer without coloring that hardens on top.  Just use a small blade and scrape it off.
